Please take this survey to help other lesbian moms!
My name is Sequoia and I am a graduate student in Counseling Psych and a lesbian. As part of a GLBT course I am researching lesbian parenting; both so that I can help lesbian couples as a counselor, and in preparation of my own parenting goals eventually. I want to include some women’s voices as part of my paper so that it is not just about dry research. I am collecting these perspectives through an online survey, and then I will include snippets in my paper. Everything will be anonymous and only used in this paper.
Here is the link to the survey: http://tinyurl.com/yfz4e3h
This survey is to get personalized, subjective opinions and experiences about the decision-making and interpersonal process of lesbian couples who became planned parents through donor insemination.
To complete this survey, please make sure that you match the following criteria:
- you identify as a woman-who-loves-exclusively-women, regardless of the term you choose to use.
- you and another woman decided to become parents through using donor insemination (not adoption, not from previous relationship, etc) such that either you or your partner became pregnant and the intention is to raise the child together as co-mothers.
Feel free to answer as many or as few questions as you feel comfortable, with as much or little detail as you like.
This survey will be used in a graduate counseling paper, not in formal research. The results will all be anonymous.
Thank you so much for your participation and your inspiration!

Know any queer rural zines? x-post (if this doesn't belong/breaks rules, sorry; tell me&I'll delete)
Sorry if this doesn't belong here, but my friend Jenna (a.k.a. trashcan_chica
) needs some help:"does anyone know of any queer zines about living in rural areas or going to rural areas?
any help/pointing in the right direction would be amazing. i went through the whole Queer Zine Archive and couldn't really find anything.
p.s. i just got a wordpress site, sassyfrasscircus.com!"
Her (AIM) away message also says: "is looking for zines about/by members of radical queer ANTI-URBAN communities, so if you know of any..."
So please comment if you can help at all; thanks. :]

James left for Vancouver a few days ago. Now I am home alone once again. For anyone who knows anything about James will know just how close him and I are. We are like brothers, the best of friends, spiritual lovers. We have a bond that is 20 years in the making.
My house is so empty. It's a place that has been full of happiness and good times with so many people for so long and now it's just a bunch of walls.
We had a going away party for him and all of his friends came. It was so much fun to see everyone for one last time together.
James kept my faith alive when it came to believing that I would find someone to love again. Now that he is gone I can feel that faith dying slowly. This isn't because I don't believe in it because I do. It's finding someone where my heart will feel it again. It's been so long since I have been in love with anyone.
I live in a beautiful small city surrounded by lakes everywhere, temp. up to 40degrees celcius in the summer and very short winters that last only a couple of months. It's not the big wild city like Vancouver so it's not the place where you would find hundreds of beautiful gay men and women everywhere you go. Needless to say 99.9 percent of the people I know and are frieds with are straight.
I have lived here for just over 3 years now. I have been on several web sites, posted profiles, and visited chat rooms. I have been on a couple of dates that never amounted to anything.
Recently I met someone that I spent time with getting to know who I found attractive, I thought was fun to be with, but I just couldn't find anything inside me that said I could fall for him. Maybe it was him falling in love with me so fast instead of just enjoying being together and letting things grow and me feeling pressured to fall in love quickly. Between that and him being so serious about everything and always asking if he did something wrong or if I was ok.
Anyway that all ended up with me saying goodbye and him dating a good friend of mine who he just met. At least the seem happy together.
So short of posting nude pictures of myself so I can have people comment and drewl over them what else can I do? I have met so many people online that live outside of Canada. Even a couple that I could see myself falling head over heals for. Unfortunately they are out of reach.
I wonder when someone will walk into my life and that magic will happen where I feel something inside. Wake up this dying heart.

lesbians who date men?
please advise me if this sort of post is not allowed.
i'm writing an article on the theme of lesbian-identified women dating/loving/shagging men, and i want to know what you think about it. the angle i'm going to take is that sexuality is fluid, labels mean different things to different people, and that they don't describe the complexity of sex and sexuality. or rather, that will be the moral of my story, the real meat will be describing the 'phenomenon'. you do not have to be a lesbian, or even identify as queer (or anything at all) to answer some of these questions. you can even be straight.( Read more...Collapse )

Hi, come and join a brand-new homo/bi friendly community: happy_gay_life
This is a community dedicated to building a positive homo/bi image by sharing joyful and uplifting experiences of being homo/bi.
Ever wonder why there are so few homo/bi stories/movies with happy endings? I did.
I figure out that it has to come from us. We've got to count our blessings and share these lovely moments with each other: the special moments that bring smiles to our faces, that make our hearts sing, that tickle us, that move us to tears of joy ... on a daily basis.
Every time you share a line of joy, you're contributing to building a positive homo/bi image.
Come! Join us and have some fun!

The host of "30 Minute Meals" on the Food Network. Check her out weeknights at 6. She's got that whole cheerleader peppiness about her but rather than detract (read: iritate the fuck out of me) from her, it somehow fits because you can just tell that off the set there's some serious partying in her. I watch very closely, looking for signs that she may be "in the family" or at least a little inclined to a night's daliance after a great meal and copious amounts of alcohol.--by someone to whom I must 100% concure with. I know me and my wife, Wolfy, watch $40 a day on Food Network each and every Tuesday night @ 10pm (EST)/9pm(CST) to watch and have a good time joking about how lush and lezzie Ray Ray is! =}
This is a community to speculate rather or not Rachel Ray is a lesbian; just for fun and not an actual indicator of her real sexual orientation. You can use screencaps, quotes, body language, where are eyes go, how she acts towards each individual gender; you can even write a lengthy drawn out thesis on "why I think that Rachel Ray is a lesbian" and/or you can be direct and to the point as you want.

I Need Your Help!
My name is Erica Baltezore, and I am a graduate student in the counseling program at Humboldt State University. I am collecting data for my thesis, and I need your help. I am conducting a study that is examining parental relationships following disclosure of non-heterosexual orientation. If you are gay, lesbian, or bisexual, and you are at least 18 years of age, I would greatly appreciate it if you could take a few moments to complete my questionnaire.
You can complete this questionnaire online, and all the information and instructions will be given on the website. The website address is: http://www.humboldt.edu/~pssurvey/paq/
I would like to assure you that your information will be kept confidential and does not require you to identify yourself anywhere on the study. Thank you in advance for taking the time to assist me in collecting information for my thesis.
